Fokke Fennema has been appointed as Senior Agricultural Specialist at the World Bank in India. For the next two year Mr. Fennema will work on the implementation of large agricultural Work Bank projects in India.
In May 2015 the Netherlands Government and the World Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding agriculture. Both parties expressed their willingness to work together on knowledge, innovation, inclusiveness and sustainability in food systems and to mobilize public-private activities. Following this MoU, Mr. Fennema has been seconded to the World Bank in India from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, part of the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, for a period of two years. He will focus on involving Dutch expertise regarding cold chain and agro logistics, market development and Public Private Partnerships. This will contribute to the World Bank goal of enhancing the competitiveness of the Indian agriculture sector. Mr. Fennema blogs (in Dutch) about his work, which can be read here.
